Spring has sprung!

Spring has finally arrived! These past couple of weeks have been very fun filled. Below are pictures of several different occasions. The first set of pictures are from Valentine's Day. The children had a wonderful time passing out Valentine's and sharing Christ's love! The next group of pictures are students working during their small group work centers, they are doing great working with others and independently. They love work centers just as much as they love free play. Next, are pictures from our field trip to Publix. As many of you know, they were thrilled about going on the school bus! At Publix they went through the "back", saw the box crushing machine, and checked out the Deli, Produce, and Bakery! It was quite an adventure. Lastly, are pictures of the children checking out the mess that the leprechauns left. They left green foot prints everywhere and their gold shimmer! The children found where the pot of gold was hidden for them. And the last picture is of two girls latched on to Mrs. Morrell, they were a little scared about the whole thing. I secretly told them it was me and to not tell anyone, they felt a lot better after that! ;)

Catholic Schools Week!

Catholic Schools Week was so busy and fun filled. Each day we had so many activities going on they barely had any time to learn ;) The pictures below show the different activities throughout the week, enjoy! First are pictures from Florida Tourist Day. The kids are outside waiting for the flag raising prayer service to begin. It was a great way to start off the week. It was so cool because the flag was Mrs. Neitzey's (Kindergarten teacher) son's flag from the Middle East, he's out there with the armed forces for us. The kids were thrilled to be surprised with donuts for Monday morning, thank you Mrs. Brandt for that treat! Later on Monday, 5th graders came over to PreK to have some fun. They helped us write thank you cards and then we played games outside with them.

The following day was Tuesday and I had some sets of twins (and quadruplets) along with some super hero's that day. That morning we also played lots of games. We've never done that in here so they were in shock when I announced it was "game/movie day" . Musical Chairs was by far everyone's favorite. Congrats to Ava and Tut for being Musical Chair's champs!

My camera's battery ran out on Wednesday :( Thursday was the busiest day! We celebrated the 100th day of school, Groundhog Day, and it was Bounce House Day. PHEW! Words cannot explain how much laughter and exitement was going on that day. In the morning I had some wonderful classroom parents come help the children count 10 of each snack to put in their trail mix bag. Thank you to Mrs. Branch, Mrs. Brandt, Mr. Cianfrocca, and Mrs. Werner - couldn't have been done without your help! The children then sorted each of their snacks and then enjoyed it too! After nap the children all went to the gym and jumped around on 5 different bounce houses in there. They had a hard time choosing which ones to go on. Some were a little bumped here and there with all the jumped but overall they were all extatic. Again, thank you to Mr. Cianfrocca and Mr. Werner for helping me watch the kids and keep them safe. After bounce house house, we came back and the kids enjoyed a cookie cake on behalf of Sweet Tastic Treats. The cookie cake had 100 chocolate chip in in and 100 M&M's, thank you Addison and Mrs. Branch!!! As always, that was devoured in a few minutes.

We closed up the week with Minute to Win it games in the classroom. Each student picked what game they wanted to play...either Stack Attack, Seperation Anxiety, and Defying Gravity. Later in the afternoon we all went to the gym and saw teh "big kids" compete against the teachers.

Tis the Season

This Advent/Christmas season was most definitely the busiest and happiest time of the year! We had SO MUCH going on and the kids and I were loving each and day. The pictures below are just a little sneak peak of all we did! First, we started off the Advent season by being the youngest, and I must say most talented singers at the Advent Program on Dec. 3rd ;) The kids really learned what they were singing "Stay awake, be ready!" and were as ready as 4 year olds could be for Jesus' coming! We were also honored by being asked to pray with the Elijah Cup one day, which is chalice that the Parish passes around to families to pray for an increase in vocations to the Religious Life, there would be no Mass and Sacraments without Priests! Let's continue to keep then in your prayers. Sometime in December Santa stopped by briefly for a "quick check" on the kids, they were behaving just great and got a few treats from him. Saint Nicholas was also really good to the kids! On his feast day when the kids woke up from nap they had candy left in their shoes!! During Advent, the preschoolers asked to go to the prayer table and pray more than usual, so that was a nice surprise! I think they also enjoyed looking at the little Nativity that was placed on the table :) The weather was so nice we made it out to the playground a couple of times, this is by far the kids FAVORITE thing to do! They love it and are strengthening their gross motor skills and muscles without even noticing it! We began to get ready for the Winter season by watching "The Polar Express" Snow was falling from the classroom ceiling and it all of a sudden got very cold!!! The kids had to bundle up up their warmest winter gear and liked sipping on their hot chocolate! Last, we celebrated Baby Jesus' Birthday on our last day of school. We had a pizza party and cupcakes!! It was so nice to enjoy every one's company. This day we also opened up the Secret Santa gifts, the kids had a great time guessing who was their "Secret Santa" THANK YOU AGAIN to all of you for bringing in a gift for a child and for the incredible moms that donated towards Polar Express Day (Mrs. Herdel) and towards our Christmas celebration (Mrs. Brandt, Mrs. Branch, Ms. Medford, and Mrs. Werner) We couldn't have done it without you!!!

November Festivities

I can't believe the year has flown by this quick, today the students and I counted that we have been in school for 63 days, WOW! Time flies when you are having a blast :) The first group of pictures was from the beginning of November when Master H came to talk to the children about stranger danger. Three of our very own preschoolers did a special karate presentation for us. It was phenomenal! Stephen also kicked a piece of wood in half, WOW! Remember, we only use martial arts when "our life in in danger"! The next group of photos was from this past Wednesday when we went on a walking field trip to Banana Split Republic, the kids picked out their favorite flavors and they all enjoyed themselves. The kids, I mean Indians, were all hard at work as they painted their leather vests. Lastly, again a HUGE thank you to the generosity of our room moms for putting our feast together yesterday. I feel so blessed to have you! Also - thanks to YOU for making such delicious meals and contributing to our feast. I figured we are all one big family, and just like a family, everyone contributes and helps out, so thanks for cooperating as I put you all to work;)

Halloween Party!

October flew by so fast! The children had a great time trick or treating through the "big kid building" in their costumes. They also loved getting their professional pictures taken by Mrs. Radosta with Radosta the Heart of Photography in Port Orange. FL (she did a great job and was so funny!!) and making a homemade frame to place the picture inside. What a memorable day with a memorable picture to take home. Thank you to all the room moms and dad (Mr. Werner) that put on the Halloween party - it was a BLAST!!

Below are pictures from the Feast Day of Saint Francis in which the students were invited to bring in their pets for a special blessing. There were pets from a pet fish to a horse! Pre-K only had some pooch visitors :) There are also pictures from the feast day of Our Lady of the Rosary in which Pre-K made their very own decade rosaries (which have been blessed by Father Murray) and also participated in the Living Rosary. They did a beautiful job. Lastly, we remembered and fundraised for women who have suffered or are suffering with breast cancer. All participated and wore PINK, thanks to everyone! The girls felt so pretty and loved pink day, and boys...well not so much but they were good sports!

Fire Safety Week- NSB Fire Department Visit

Oct. 9 - 15th was Fire Safety Week. The students learned what to do if there is smoke in their house (get on all fours and crawl out fast!), they learned when and how to STOP, DROP, and ROLL, when and why to call 911, and learned all about firefighters and their incredible job. We were all SO thankful that the NSB Fire Deparment was able to come to our school. They loved seeing them in their uniform, going through the truck, sitting in the drivers seat, shooting the hose, and best of all getting sprayed by it. They got soaked and loved being able to take their shoes and socks off for the rest of the day while they dried off!

Thank you to all the parents who came in to teach the children about their "community helping job". By the end of the week they all wanted to be dental hygenists, doctors, personal trainers, and pharmacists ;)

Grandparent's/Special People Day

Please share these with grandparents and special people. It was such a joy to have them join the kids for a breakfast, a short sneak peak into their morning, and share a story with them. If you see grandparents dancing, it's because they were doing "Macarena Months" with the kids. Ask them to teach it to you ;)

Special Area Classes

These are pictures from their first days of school in Art class, Library, and P.E. (where they are touching their craniums). I have not yet had a chance to sneak into Music class, I will do that ASAP! We also enjoy stopping by the Marian grotto on our way back from specials to say hello to Mary and say a couple of Hail Mary's in front of her :)

Welcome to the Sacred Heart Catholic School's Pre-k blog! I apologize it's taken me so long to get this up...I've had some technical difficulties :) Every so often, typically at the end of the week I'll be posting pictures up of special events or just an ordinary day in the life of a preschooler at Sacred Heart.
